The Game Could Face Charges Tied to Flash Mob Calls

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A rapper could face criminal charges after a tweet from his account incited a telephone flash mob that overwhelmed the emergency phone system at one of busiest stations of the Los Angeles County sheriff's department, the agency said Saturday.

The sheriff's department alleges The Game tweeted the Compton station's phone number Friday and told his 580,000 followers to call the number if they wanted an internship.

Phones at the southeast Los Angeles County station started ringing at 5:23 p.m. Friday, and the lines were jammed by hundreds of calls for more than two hours, prompting authorities to bring in additional help. Many callers hung up as soon as someone answered, while others asked deputies about a music internship.

During that time people with legitimate issues that included a missing person, spousal abuse and two robberies were also trying to call in, department spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said that when authorities finally figured out what had happened, he sent two tweets to the rapper asking him to take down the number. Instead, Parker said, The Game posted that his account had been hacked and also tweeted that it was an accident.

"Yall can track a tweet down but cant solve murders!" the tweet said. "Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job !!!!"

A call and email to The Game's publicist, Greg Miller at Big Hassle Media, was not immediately returned.

The rapper finally took down the number around 11 p.m. Friday after a third request from Parker, who took particular issue with the accusation that deputies are not doing their job.

"Under the LA county sheriffs we've reduce homicides in Compton by over 50 percent in recent years and crime is down in Compton, but it's particularly helpful when the public can contact us," Parker said Saturday in a phone interview with The Associated Press. "This incident was the social media equivalent of going into a crowded movie theater and shouting 'Fire!'"

Investigators will document what happened, how many calls flooded the station, the rapper's tweets and other information, and will turn it over to the district attorney's office next week, Parker said. The rapper could face charges of maliciously disrupting or impeding communications over a public safety radio frequency, obstruction of justice or other charges related to delaying a peace officer from doing their job.

"Public safety was absolutely compromised," Parker said. "We were delayed in responding to calls."

The Game is a California-based rapper whose real name is Charles Louboutin, the sheriff's office said in a release.

His 2005 debut album, "The Documentary," entered the charts at the top and sold 586,000 units in the first week, according to his website. The rapper, who grew up in Compton, has collaborated with famed rappers including Dr. Dre, Kanye West and 50 Cent.

Cash Money Birdman is 9 Steps Away From Billionaire

Cash Money's leader speaks on why he makes more than $100 million and says he wants to be a billionaire.
When Forbes Magazine estimated Birdman's wealth to be at $100 million, he felt they were incorrect. The Cash Money leader has said that the exact figure is much higher. In a recent interview with Forbes, Birdman spoke about why he felt $100 million was so low, how he plans on making a billion and why he feels he's earned all of his success.
“I just felt $100 million was low,” he told Forbes. “With all the different entities, I think I should still be a lot more than that. $500 million. $250 million, easy … As a child I always felt if I could make $1 million, I could make $100 million. If I could get $100 million, I’m just nine steps away from being a billionaire. And that’s the goal.”
In the article, he goes on to say that his vision of having a billion dollars is something he focuses on daily. Comparing himself to Bill Gates, Birdman noted that he is trying to "brainstorm" on an idea to make his first billion.
“I’ve been thinking, Donald Trump and Bill Gates, they made a billion off one idea, So every day we’re trying to brainstorm on that idea to get that billion.”
According to Birdman, the success he's earned comes from having an independent attitude, one that doesn't always have to rely on "the machine."
“A lot of my peers that did this before me, they got the bad end of the dea. They was always funded by the machine, by the label, and never owned nothing … I never wanted us to be artists who, when it’s over, we’re broke, back where we come from, just simply because you sign some shit that say you don’t own nothing.”

Jay-z Takes Throne of Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings

It seems as the test of Hip Hop super stars did not Watch the Throne properly as Jay-z took it, Forbes has announced its annual Hip Hop Cash Kings list. The leader of the pack is none other than Jay-Z, while additional Hip Hop stars to make the cut include Eminem, Diddy, Dr. Dre, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and more.

Hov tops the chart with $37 million in income, thanks to “the benefits of a 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal, as well as stakes in the New Jersey Nets, the 40/40 Club” and more.
Sean “Diddy” Combs comes in second with $35 million. Surprisingly, music only accounts for 20 percent of his earnings, while the rest consists of investments in clothing lines like Sean John and Enyce.
Kanye West places third with $16 million. The relentless tourer released his last solo album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in November 2010, and most recently dropped his collaboration album with Jigga, Watch the Throne, yesterday.

Others to notch on the list include Lil Wayne at No. 4 ($15 million) in a tie with Birdman, Eminem at No. 6 ($14 million) in a tie with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Ludacris at No. 10 ($12 million), Wiz Khalifa at No. 11 ($11 million) in a tie with Drake, Nicki Minaj at No. 15 ($6.5 million) in a tie with Swizz Beatz, and more.

Game Explains The Origin Of His Dislike For Jay-Z

Chuck Taylor says that a negative experience with Hov turned him off from the emcee.
Game has lashed out at Jay-Z several times in the past, most recently firing shots at Hov on his diss track “Uncle Otis.” But what fans might not know is that his attitude towards Jigga stems from an incident that soured his respect for him.
“I think that’s where my short-lived hatred came from. Yeah, man. I had it like that he was just a great dude. I grew up off of all Jay’s albums, and when I finally met him and he was just, I don’t know, he was overly cocky,” he says. “The way that he played fans - and I’m not saying it to say he’s the same person now, that was like seven years ago - this is my own personal experience, so it’s not to make anyone hate Jay-Z.”
While he has continued to pop off at Jay, Game insists that it’s all about business and has nothing to do with his actual attitude towards him. “It turned me left. Ever since then, I’ve been taking little potshots here and there, it’s nothing personal,” he explained

Lil Wayne Previews Collaboration With Drake

Weezy records his portion of "She Will," and discusses it with Drizzy, the song's featured guest.
One of the most highly-anticipated tracks on Lil Wayne's long-awaited Tha Carter IV is "She Will," a collaboration with frequent collaborator Drake.
In a video courtesy of DJ Scoob Doo, fans get a preview of Wayne's verse: "Some people hang you out to dry like a towel rack / I'm all about I, give the rest of the vowels back / I like my girl thick, not just kinda fine / Eat her till' she cry, call that wine and dine."
Wayne previewed the collaboration for Drake via online chat, and the Toronto emcee had nothing but praise for his mentor's contribution. "That shit's crazy!" exclaimed Drizzy. "The verses were chippin' in and out on the stream, I couldn't really hear, but I heard some crazy lines, though."

Game Clarifies Statements About Signing With Cash Money Records

While promoting "The R.E.D. Album" on "106 & Park" Game said signing with Cash Money is only one of a few potential post-Interscope moves he's considering.
Fans of Game will have every opportunity to see the Compton rapper in the coming weeks, as he’s been making the rounds promoting his upcoming project The R.E.D. Album. This week, the promo run has included guest-hosting duties on BET’s “106 & Park.” In addition to performing and finding himself on the opposite end of interviews with audience members, Game took some time to tell co-host Rocsi Diaz about his hiatus as well his plans when his deal with Interscope is over.

“I gotta be a dad…I gotta be at home with the fam and hold it down,” Game explained of his time away between albums. “Then I gotta tour—pay my bills. But even when I’m away, I’m still working.”

After telling XXLMag.com during a July interview that he was considering either moving to Cash Money Records or merging his Black Wall Street imprint with the label, Game revealed that he talks to Cash Money co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams a few times each week. When asked about his plans when his deal with Interscope is up, Game played things closer to the vest.

“You know Interscope/Aftermath, that’s my label and I’ma hold it down for them forever,” Game said. “I’ve been there for four albums, and I’ve got one more album before I’m a free agent. We’re gonna try and turn that one around real quick, then I’ll make the executive decision on what I’ll do with the rest of my career. I might get into acting, I might go over to Cash Money. You never know.”
